The Ridgeway stretches 87 miles over 5 counties and is part of a network of paths used originally by travellers, traders and drovers. We plan to walk from Ivinghoe Beacon to Overton Hill near Avebury during 2016-17. The first stage comprises a circular walk from Tring Station through the Ashridge estate and over Ivinghoe Beacon, about 10 miles through woodland and fields. There is possibility of refreshments in some of the villages and at the Ashridge Monument, but bring a packed lunch.
Meet at Tring Station at 1040 on Sunday October 2nd. For those wanting to use public transport, there is a train from St Albans Abbey arriving Tring at 10.36.
