Hanwell to Iver, 10 miles
Meet 10.30 for 11.00 departure from The Clocktower Café 151 Uxbridge Rd Hanwell W7 3SP
Suggested route from St Albans: We will be travelling to Hanwell and returning from Iver (outside zone 6 and Oyster cannot be used). Although there are overnight works on Thameslink and a reduced service on the Elizabeth line, these services should be running.
St Albans (08.58) è Farringdon (09.28) on Thameslink
Farringdon (09.50) è Hanwell (10.21) on Elizabeth line
Return
Trains from Iver at 16.24, 16.54, and 17.24 to Farringdon, (travel time 44 mins)
It seems a little unlikely that Shakespeare would have come this precise way, as the Grand Union canal wouldn’t have existed in his time. Nevertheless, it provides us with an avenue through West London with highlights including the Hanwell flight of locks and the Slough Arm aqueduct. It is a relatively flat 10 miles passing; packed lunch recommended although there will be coffee / tea and toilet opportunities at 5 and 8 miles.
